What's Nobinite? - Any problems with thermal expansion?
NOBINITE CAST IRON is a patented nickel-cobalt-iron alloy which is
better in all of thermal expansion, machinability and castability than any other conventional metal such as
Carbon Steels or Invar Alloys, and most suitable for precision machine parts where dimensional changes due to temperature variation and/or irregular motion must be minimized.
Features
- Low Thermal Expansion -
possesses a coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) approximately one-tenth that of carbon steel at temperatures up to 204°C (400°F).
- Favorable Castability/Machinability -
can be cast and machined without a hassle and permits productivity gains particularly when parts have intricate shapes and/or require working to close tolerances.
- Ample Damping Capacity -
reduces operational vibrations and improves geometrical accuracy.
